Crown Princess Mary style blue ballet flats

I’m loving the pale velvety blue ballet flats Crown Princess Mary wore in her recent family photo portrait. I’m predicting these fresh pastel colours are going to be big.

Ballet flats were first made popular by Audrey Hepburn way back in the 1957 movie ‘Funny Face‘, who liked to wear black suede with a low oval heel and a shell sole. There are several companies that produce ballet flats:

The pink Arabian leather ballerinas by Australian company Bloch looked very promising in shape and heel, but alas didn’t have the right pale blue colour.

The powder blue ballet flats look very similar to the Riviera turquoise leather ballerinas with bow detail and grosgrain trim by Repetto. The rose pink ones are just as cute.

French Sole (a London company) was one of Princess Diana’s favourite shoes. Kate Moss and Sienna Miller have been seen wearing the Lowcut and Henrietta style. Julia Roberts also wears them.

Alas, if only I didn’t have wide feet I could wear them!
